INTRODUCTION
Welcome to FitForTennis.com, a Web site designed to provide information
on tennis specific strength and conditioning. Visitors can access
training programs to accompany the exercises and drills contained
in the 2 videos: Functional Strength Training for Tennis
and Speed, Agility & Footwork for Tennis. These programs
can be downloaded and printed for ease of use.
The site is
also a resource for equipment, additional reading, and upcoming
events. There will be links to other sites and articles written
by leaders in the field of tennis training.
ROSE'S BIOGRAPHY
Rose Bonomo has been an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
since 1990, as well as an ACSM Certified Health/Fitness Instructor
and a Nike Certified SAQI (Speed, Agility & Quickness Instructor).
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Hunter College's Human Movement Studies
Program, she was the owner of Custom Fitness, a personal training
studio in New York City specializing in innovative functional training
programs. From 1988 to 1993, this studio, located in Manhattan's
theater district, allowed many Broadway actors, jingle singers,
musicians, models and executives to benefit from Rose's eclectic
program design.
Since moving
to Portland, Oregon, Rose has been involved in tennis-specific speed
and conditioning for several years working with juniors, elite players,
recreational players, seniors and pee-wees. In 1999 she began working
with junior tennis players at The Academy in Portland, Oregon, as
well as with Susie Campbell -Gross (Head Women's Tennis coach) and
Aaron Gross (Men's Head Tennis coach) as Speed, Strength & Conditioning
Coach for the University of Portland's men's and women's tennis
teams.
Rose was a speaker at the 2000 NSCA National Conference
in Orlando, Florida. Her session, "Getting Your Athletes Up to Speed:
Functional Training for Speed & Agility" got everyone out of their
seats to participate in the hands-on demonstrations.

Functional Strength Training for Tennis and Speed and Agility &
Footwork for Tennis, contain the cumulative knowledge from many
years of training and experience. The videos are designed to optimize
progression, and each section has a training program that can be
downloaded and printed from this Web site.
